Questions people ask

Can we ride the elephants?
No, and that is deliberate. The centre rehabilitates elephants rescued from riding and begging work; riding and performances are not part of the visit.
Is the centre suitable for children?
Yes. It is an observation visit with keepers explaining each animal's history, and children generally take to it.
How long is the day?
About fifteen hours door to door, starting at 2:30 am. It is a long one — the sunrise is what makes it worth it.
Can we do this tour on a Friday?
No, the Taj Mahal is closed to visitors every Friday. Any other day of the week works.
What if it is foggy at sunrise?
In December and January the Taj can sit in mist at dawn, and nobody can control that. It is still a quiet, beautiful hour, and the haze usually lifts by the time you reach Agra Fort.
Is breakfast included?
Meals are not included, but after the Taj we stop at a good restaurant for breakfast, and vegetarian options are always on the menu. You order and pay for what you like.
What can we take into the Taj Mahal?
Keep it light: phone, camera, water and a small bag. Food, tripods, drones and large bags are not allowed, and your guide will tell you what to leave in the car.
How should we prepare for a 2:30 am pickup?
Sleep early, lay out warm layers, and bring a small pillow or shawl so you can doze on the drive to Agra. The roads are empty at that hour, so the journey is quiet and smooth.
Can we stay overnight in Agra instead of returning the same day?
Yes. We can turn this into a two-day trip with a night in Agra, which makes the day far less tiring, and we will send you a revised itinerary and price.
