Questions people ask
Do you take commission from the shops?
No. That is the point of this tour. Your guide is paid by us, not by the shopkeepers, so the recommendations are honest.
Can you arrange shipping?
Most established shops ship internationally and will handle it. Your guide checks the paperwork before you pay.
Are gemstones in Jaipur a good buy?
They can be, and they can also be a trap. Buy from certified dealers, ask for the certificate in writing, and never buy a 'resale at home' story.
Do we have to buy anything?
Not at all. You can browse, watch the artisans at work and walk away from any shop, and your guide will never push you towards a purchase.
What time does the tour start?
Late afternoon is best, when the bazaars are busiest and cooler, but as a private tour we can start whenever suits you. Your driver and guide pick you up from your Jaipur hotel.
Should I bring cash or a card?
Bring both. Established shops and workshops take cards, while smaller bazaar stalls prefer cash or UPI, and your guide can point you to an ATM if you run short.
Is bargaining expected?
In the open bazaars, yes, politely. Your guide gives you a sense of the fair price before you start, so you know when a deal is reasonable.
Can we focus on just one thing, like textiles or jewellery?
Yes. Tell us what you are after when you book and your guide will shape the afternoon around it, whether that is block-printed fabric, silver, juttis or blue pottery.
Can we combine this with a sightseeing tour?
Yes. Many guests do Amber Fort and the palaces in the morning and the bazaars in the late afternoon, and we can plan both into one day or two.
