Questions people ask

How likely is a tiger sighting?
With four safaris, reasonable — but it is a wild animal in 1,300 square kilometres and nobody can promise it.
Which months are best?
October to April. Visibility improves through the dry months as animals come to the water.
Can children go on safari?
Yes. The Gypsy is open and the drives are two to three hours, which most children manage well.
Is the park open all year?
No. The core safari zones close for the monsoon, usually from July to the end of September. Outside that, safaris run in the morning and afternoon.
What are the safari timings?
The morning safari starts around sunrise and the afternoon safari a few hours before sunset, each lasting about three hours. Exact times shift with the season, and we confirm them when you book.
Can we choose the safari zone or vehicle?
Zones are allotted by the forest department, so nobody can promise a specific one. Safaris are by shared Gypsy, and a private Gypsy can be arranged on request at extra cost.
What should we wear on safari?
Earthy colours like green, khaki and brown, and layers you can peel off. Winter mornings in an open Gypsy are genuinely cold, so bring a warm jacket, cap and gloves, and sunscreen for the afternoons.
Do we need ID for the safari?
Yes. Permits are issued in each guest's name with an ID number, so carry the same passport or ID you send us when booking.
How do we get to Ranthambore?
Sawai Madhopur is well connected by train from Delhi and Jaipur, and we meet you there. Travel to and from Sawai Madhopur is not included, but we can add a private car from Jaipur or Delhi.
