  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Delhi

    Arrive in Delhi, private transfer to your hotel, check in and rest.

    A full day across Delhi

    Delhi from 9 am — Jama Masjid, a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, the spice market, the Red Fort from outside, then Humayun's Tomb, India Gate, Parliament House, Qutub Minar and the Lotus Temple.

  3. Day 3

    To Agra, the Baby Taj and Mehtab Bagh

    Checkout around 10 am, three hours to Agra. Itimad-ud-Daulah, then sunset at Mehtab Bagh.

  4. Day 4

    Sunrise Taj Mahal and on to Jaipur

    Taj Mahal at sunrise, breakfast and checkout, Agra Fort, then on to Jaipur stopping at Fatehpur Sikri.

  5. Day 5

    Jaipur forts, palaces and Patrika Gate

    Amber Fort, a photo stop at Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar and Patrika Gate.

  6. Day 6

    The desert road to Bikaner

    Six hours to Bikaner through changing desert country. Check in and take the evening easy.

  7. Day 7

    Junagarh Fort, then on to Jaisalmer

    Junagarh Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Karni Mata Temple, Gajner Lake and Lakshmi Niwas Palace, then on to Jaisalmer by evening.

  8. Day 8

    Jaisalmer Fort and a night in the dunes

    Jaisalmer Fort, Salim Singh Haveli and Patwon Ki Haveli. In the afternoon, out to the Khuri dunes for a camel ride, sunset, folk music and dinner at the desert camp.

  9. Day 9

    The drive to Jodhpur

    Five hours to Jodhpur. Check in and spend the rest of the day at your own pace.

  10. Day 10

    Mehrangarh Fort and the Blue City

    Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace, the Sardar Government Museum, Mandore Gardens and the Clock Tower market.

  11. Day 11

    Ranakpur Temple and on to Udaipur

    Checkout around 9 am for Udaipur, stopping at the Ranakpur Jain Temple.

  12. Day 12

    Udaipur and a boat on Lake Pichola

    Jagdish Temple and City Palace, a boat ride on Lake Pichola, then Fateh Sagar Lake, Saheliyon Ki Bari and Bagore Ki Haveli.

  13. Day 13

    Departure from Udaipur

    Breakfast, checkout and transfer to Udaipur airport for your flight to Delhi or onward.

How long are the drives between cities?
The longest stretches are Jaipur to Bikaner at about six hours and Jaisalmer to Jodhpur at about five, while Delhi to Agra is around three. Every long drive has comfortable breaks for tea, lunch and photos, and the Fatehpur Sikri and Ranakpur stops break up the Agra to Jaipur and Jodhpur to Udaipur days.
What should I pack for the night at the desert camp?
Bring a warm layer, because desert nights from December to February can turn properly cold even after a warm day, plus a torch and comfortable shoes for the sand. A small overnight bag is handy too, so your main luggage can stay safely in the car.
